VLOC/II-VI inc., New Port Richey, Florida (Nov. 2006 - Oct. 2011)
Quality Assurance Test Engineer / Laser Engineer
Designed, built, operated, and continuous improvement of laser test beds in the QA Laser Lab, especially the high-energy laser-induced-damage test-bed. Development and maintenance of production laser test-beds. Trained and supervised test personnel in testing and delivery of 100s of assemblies per month in lean manufacturing environment. Assisted QA department in fault analysis and production improvements using interferometric and microscopic analysis. Assisted all manufacturing departments as needed with troubleshooting and analysis to reduce product failure, automate processes, and improve yields. MIG welding of special tooling and breadboard platforms as needed for the laser equipment and specialty test-beds. Produced and improved documentation for successful transition to ISO-9001 and AS-9100 processes.

VLOC/II-VI inc., New Port Richey, Florida (Nov. 2000 – Nov. 2006)
Custom Crystal Growth Engineer / Laser Engineer
Built, operated and initiated improvements to crystal growth processes, equipment, and both RF and resistance type furnaces. Responsible for all aspects of growth of laser gain crystals (YAG and Vanadate) and non-linear crystals (e.g. Potassium Niobate). Assisted the Laser Lab in building test setups for material characterization and quality assessment of materials, surfaces, and laser assemblies. TIG welding of platinum crucibles as needed. Responsible for rare earth chemical inventory and precious metal inventory. Produced monthly quality and yield reports.

Blue Road Research, Fairview, Oregon (July 1997 – Oct. 2000)
Engineer / Scientist
Studied and built fiber optic sensors. Taught classes on general fiber optics and fiber optic sensors. Experienced in building arrays of sensors and implementing into complex structures. Participated in sensor installation and failure testing of aerospace parts such as the Joint Strike Fighter titanium tail section and in-situ 3D strain analysis of aluminum airplane lap joints, both at Boeing. Invented and implemented bridge load sensors and ran tests with ODOT on ...
